Grief and rage are not emotions we are encouraged to express, but to be a human on this planet at this time means dealing with a pretty consistent wave of these emotions. That is unless you have completely unplugged from the news and social media, which would be understandable but also we need you. So how do we process the multitude of events with new things happening the next day? How do we do this and still show up for work, make sure to eat a meal, connect to others, breathe? This is not a sprint. Our nervous systems are overwhelmed. Our collective health is suffering. We have to find a way to sustain and take care during this global shift. Sooo, what are you doing for you? What are you doing to nurture your heart and humanity?
For me it has always been movement. Be in my body and trust, allow myself to explore space and time in a way my words cannot. To find home within so I can feel centered, grounded, and connected. Thus when I first came across Delilah Bon’s music I knew what had to be done. I know the feeling of when that creative spark first lights, a piece that must be created, expressed, and shared. And so began the process of creating “Age and Rage,” a suite of three songs moving through grief, rage, and collective liberation. It was one of the hardest creative processes I have experienced as embodying that level of emotions over several weeks was both necessary and exhausting. I reached out to a small crew of friends whom I knew had personal emotions to express and the courage to explore so through dance. Then on Saturday April 18th we took the stage at LA Fuse to “Age and Rage.”

It didn’t change any of the politics or happenings, but it was a collective scream. We needed that. We needed to move this anger through so it doesn’t eat at our health and so it can be a grounded inspiration to stay committed to creating a world where we all belong and are valued.
